EcoPower Suffolk comprises an energy farm with solar photovoltaics and a colocated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure.

The Proposed Development also includes a grid connection via underground cable to the Yaxley 400kV National Grid substation.

We want to hear your views on our proposals for EcoPower Suffolk. Your feedback is important in helping to shape the designs at this early stage.

Section 4: Local environment

EcoPower Suffolk is classified as an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) development, which means we are required to assess the likely environmental impacts of the Proposed Development. We would like your feedback on the preliminary findings of our environmental assessments, the likely effects of the Proposed Development, and the measures proposed to avoid, reduce or manage any significant impacts.

More detailed information from our environmental surveys and assessments is set out in the main report of the Preliminary Environmental Information (PEI), which is summarised in the Non-Technical Summary of the PEI.

What happens next

After the consultation closes, we will carefully review all feedback received and conduct an overall analysis on the main themes of the consultation. Respondents’ views will help shape the final design of the Proposed Development as we assess how our plans can be updated in response to feedback, where possible. We expect to submit our DCO application to PINS, which will include a Consultation Report explaining how feedback has been considered.

Econergy is committed to protecting your personal information. Whenever you provide such information, we are legally obliged to use it in line with all applicable laws concerning the protection of personal data, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

How will Econergy use the information you submit?

We will use your responses for a number of purposes, including:

  • in the analysis of the feedback to the consultation
  • to produce a Consultation Report, based on our analysis of responses (individuals will not be identified in the Report)
  • to write to you with updates about the results of the consultation and other developments
  • to keep up-to-date records of our communications with individuals and organisations.

Any personal information you include in this form will be handled and used by (or made available to) the following recipients to record, analyse and report on the feedback we receive:

  • Econergy and its consultants working on EcoPower Suffolk, for the purposes of work relating to EcoPower Suffolk only
  • the Planning Inspectorate (which will consider our application for development consent – any details published as part of this process will be anonymised)
  • the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero (who will make the decision on our application)
  • our legal advisers.
